Nintendo has been dutifully adding to that catalogue every month, and today, 86 games live on the client. Anyone who owns the console and subscribes to its $3.99-per-month Switch Online service automatically gains access to a trove of NES and SNES titles. Surely we don’t need to be doling out the archive piecemeal, right? Why would anyone spend real money on a 30-year-old game? Thankfully, Nintendo has addressed those qualms beautifully on the Switch. The company’s Virtual Console service, which was available on the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS, hosted an impressive cross-section of old games, but it would also charge you like 5 bucks for the privilege of playing Galaga. Nintendo has built a cottage industry out of reselling its classics over and over again. Photo-Illustration: by Vulture Photos by Nintendo
